BRI Super League Week 4 Clash Between Persib Bandung and Borneo FC Postponed Due to Pitch Condition and Security Concerns
The Week 4 match of the 2025/26 BRI Super League between Persib Bandung and Borneo FC Samarinda, originally scheduled for August 31, 2025, has officially been postponed.
The decision was made public by the league operator, I.League, after assessing the condition of the pitch, which was deemed unfit for play.
This postponement is outlined in an official letter numbered 1279/LI-COR/VIII/2025, signed by I.League's CEO, Ferry Paulus. The letter was addressed to the management of both clubs and referenced several documents, including:
- A letter from the West Java Police (B/3210/VIII/PAM.3.3./2025/Roops)
- An official request for postponement from Persib Bandung (308/DIR-PBB/VIII/2025)
Reasons for Postponement
In its official statement, I.League cited security concerns and the unfit condition of the pitch as the primary reasons for the postponement.
“Following the above references, after reviewing the facts and the condition of the field, which is not conducive for play, it has been decided that the match between Persib Bandung and Borneo FC Samarinda on August 31, 2025, will be postponed until further notice,” wrote Ferry Paulus in the official letter.
Request to Home Club
I.League also urged Persib Bandung, as the home team, to coordinate further with security, stadium management, and all relevant parties according to competition regulations.
New Schedule Pending
As of now, I.League has not yet confirmed a new date for this highly anticipated match. This postponement adds to the list of matches in Liga 1 this season that have been rescheduled due to non-technical reasons.
For Persib, this delay means that the team will need to adjust its preparations. Meanwhile, for Borneo FC, who have been in strong form, the postponement could disrupt their momentum heading into the match.
